The West Raleigh Alliance is proud to have a partnership with the City of Raleigh based on economic development work and business advocacy. Through this partnership we collaborate with the Small Business Development Division.
Small Business Development (SBD) Division
The City of Raleigh’s Small Business Development Division helps Raleigh’s small businesses grow and prosper. They provide resources for funding, best practices, market data, and workforce development. Through strategic technology solutions, an expanding suite of digital tools, and high-impact events like Legal Lift, SBD works to connect, strengthen, and inspire Raleigh’s small business ecosystem.
SBD also partners with local Business Alliances – such as the West Raleigh Alliance – and collaborates with Entrepreneurial Support Organizations, workforce programs, co-working spaces, and financial partners. Together, these partnerships help build capacity, strengthen relationships, share resources, and expand opportunities for local businesses.
The Partnership
The City partners with several leading organizations across Raleigh to foster entrepreneurship and innovation while contributing to Raleigh’s vibrant business community. Our business alliances allow businesses to connect and engage with an ecosystem of other businesses to help fuel growth.
Business Alliances are organizations that focus on the success of small business owners. No two are alike, but all have a passion for local independent businesses. Common services offered by Business Alliance Organizations include:
- Vendor events and listings in directories
- Promotion, marketing, and advertising
- Networking, partnership, and training opportunities
- Research, planning and advocacy
